The developers of the controversial university heights project want city council to send it back to Springfield planning and zoning again. This comes after changes to the project.

After months of contention over a development plan, the owners of the lot at a busy Springfield intersection say they have a new plan.

The denial of the plan is only a recommendation by planning and zoning.

Commissioners appeared to be divided on whether the rezoning at National and Sunshine should be approved.

Springfield Councilman Craig Hosmer declared his opposition to development in University Heights at a Thursday neighborhood forum.

The move prompted outbursts and a mass exodus of neighborhood advocates who had been at the meeting to argue in favor of the moratorium.

Craig Hosmer says city staff supported, then opposed his call for a 210-day administrative delay on development in area.

Developer Ralph Duda said he is "highly skeptical a serious offer" would be given by any University Heights resident.

The proposed 7 Brew Coffee drive-through has twice been denied by the cities Planning & Zoning Commission.

Developers will try again to take the issue to city council.
