Birders tally same amount of species as they did last year
Lauren Parmelee tallies Canada geese Saturday near the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority during the winter bird count. The group of birders recorded 66 species, including a brown-crowned night heron on an island in The Dumplings. That sighting earned Parmelee the Pink Flamingo Award for the top find of the day.PHOTO BY ANDREA VON
