Iowa seems to be the only place in America that doesn't have a best hole-in-the-wall breakfast place. The one that was voted on in Iowa closed its doors at the end of last year.

Doris Hahn, owner of the historic Hahn Bakery in Middle Amana, will close the store's doors on New Year's Eve for the last time.

Doris Hahn is retiring, which means the Hahn Bakery in Middle Amana is closing for good Dec. 31. “It’s gonna be hard, on New Year's Eve," she said. "But I really am looking forward to a new adventure."

The Hahn Bakery has been in the family for more than 60 years. With Doris at the helm for the past 55 years, the family business baked family recipes — unchanged since their inception — in an old hearth oven.
