During the regular meeting, the board will consider approval of the South Housing Village design and will appoint the city's next police chief. The work session will be focused on an update on Trees Atlanta's invasive plant removal project.

The South Housing Village at Legacy Park will feature 132 units made up of apartments, stacked flats and duplexes at the corner of South Columbia Drive and Katie Kerr Drive. The site of the development is about seven acres.

The Decatur City Commission will meet on Monday, April 4 for a work session on the South Housing Village project plan at 6 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.

After a contentious 90 minutes of public comment on March 2, the Decatur City Commission decided to move forward with purchasing 7 acres of land and refinancing a larger portion of Legacy Park to develop the South Housing Village.

The Decatur Housing Authority and city of Decatur are seeking public input on the South Housing Village that is planned to be built at Legacy Park near the intersection of South Columbia Drive and Katie Kerr Drive.

The Decatur City Commission voted Tuesday to extend its face-mask ordinance until a special called commission meeting on March 2. But commissioners signaled they may be ready to lift the city's mask mandate that's been in place - with a brief interruption - since 2020.

The Decatur Housing Authority, in partnership with Columbia Residential, were recently awarded a 9% low-income housing tax credit allocation from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to provide funding for the development of phase II of Columbia Senior Residences at Decatur East, according to a press release.
