down 8 and president obama up 8. but at the same time gallup showing it within a point on a national basis and rasmussen comes out which shows romney up 1 point in the swing states. i m so confused. i don t understand this. how can it be in the rasmussen shows romney up 2 nationally. how can he have him up and pew has him down 8 and the swing states are neck and neck. i wouldn t even be looking at the national trend polls. first all they don t matter that much. and they are also close. we know it s going to be a close race. megyn: the mainstream media is telling us it s not. they are telling us romney is dead. where it s not looking so close is the swing states where the polling does matter. if you look at polls in ohio and virginia, in the states where this will get decided. nationally he could move up 4
nasdaq gained 11. taking a look at overseas trading this morning. in tokyo the nikkei lost 13 points, while in hong kong the hang sang was down 8. investors are waiting for the big number on weekly jobless claims and worrying about greek debt. leaders in greece failed today to agree on a reform and austerity program so the finance minister travels to brussels with an incomplete deal with a bailout from the europe union. in china, consumer spending jumped during the chinese lunar new year holiday season and the annual inflation spiked to 4.5% in january. the weekly unemployment claims information to be released this morning by the labor department is of special interest after the improved job creation report last week. more than 2 million americans could benefit from at at least 25 billion in relief from the nation s biggest banks as part of a broad government foreclosure settlement. cisco systems reported quarterly earnings and revenue
second drop in the past three weeks. at the same time a better than expected report on home building helped boost shares of the dow component home depot. that lifted the industrial average up today 64 on the trading session. stocks in general were mixed. nasdaq down 8. s&p up a little. what sounds like good news for the housing market at least on the surface here, banks last month threatened to foreclose on fewer homes. the fewest, in fact, in five years. the foreclosure listing service realtytrac reports 2% fewer people got foreclosure-related notices last month. that seems it s mainly because they are busy filling out paperwork to evict so many other troubled homemakers. ashley webster from the fox business network it s still a bleak picture out there. no doubt about it. on the surface latest numbers do show foreclosures fell 33% last month in compared to a year ago. does southbound encouraging, doesn t it? dig just below the surface the picture is indeed bleak if not
