After over 20 years of dedicated service, Read Mountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is closing its doors to a shortage of volunteers.

The Read Mountain Fire & Rescue Department has been operating out of Botetourt Countys Read Mountain station. But its staff has recently dwindled to less than 10 volunteers.

In one recent case, about $20,000 was withdrawn from a Botetourt County womans bank account in about four hours, a Roanoke County detective said.

A car crashed into a daycare in Troutville Tuesday afternoon.
