NCB's Deputy Director General (DDG), Sanjay Kumar Singh, who led the Special Investigation Team (SIT) giving actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan a clean chit in the cruise drug case, has opted for Voluntary Retirement Service (VRS). Interestingly, Singh opted VRS, just 8 months before his official retirement in January 2025.
Sameer Wankhede says the Narcotics Control Bureau ‘nurses a grudge against’ him for revealing chats containing his superiors’ instructions to ‘conduct the very same exercise that they now seek to prosecute him for’.
Wankhede was booked by the CBI in May 2023 on charges of seeking a ₹25 crore bribe for not framing Shah Rukh Khan s son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case.
The ED registered a money laundering case against Wankhede after taking cognisance of a CBI FIR over an alleged Rs 25 crore bribe demand from film superstar Shah Rukh Khan's family to spare his son in a drugs case.
