Montreal’s downtown core remains a dysfunctional mess that many area workers and motorists would rather avoid, a new study found.

The shooting early Monday at St. Denis St. and de Maisonneuve Blvd. is the third to occur downtown since last Wednesday.

An 18-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening wounds after an altercation between two groups at Ste-Catherine and Union Sts.

One 911 call reported the shooting, and a second said a man with a gunshot wound had shown up at a hospital.
