The Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra (SHESO) started its July/ August pan training programme back in 1995. And, to date, over 1500 young persons have benefited from the annual programme. Twenty-four students, 12 from the Troumaca Government School and the same number from the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School, have received basic training in the art of playing the steel pan. The Mustique Charitable Trust has invested in the youth at the Liberty Lodge Boys Training Centre through a refurbishment project. According to in a release from the Agency for Public Information the Trust’s aided in the refurbishment of a room into a classroom in an effort to help increase classroom space at the Boys’ Centre.
