Recently, BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath had proposed to penalise owners of vacant sites whose properties have transformed into dump yards. He said that the civic agency had formulated rules under the solid waste management regulations and was in the process of circulating a new circular. According to these rules, owners of poorly maintained vacant sites will face penalties.

KTR directed the District Collectors to identify suitable vacant land outside GHMC limits that can be utilized as dumping yards.
