Mark Hillery, who has been a long time donor to the University, cut ties with the University last year over the University's Covid-19 policies.

Since 2020 Durham’s most privileged students have experienced 10 times the increase in first-class grades compared to the most deprived. The gap widened further in 2021 after the end of the “no detriment” policy.

There are 467 Black students at Durham, which amounts to 2% of the student population, compared to 4.5% for the UK as a whole.

A Freedom of Information request submitted by Palatinate has revealed the names of individuals who have generously donated more than one million pounds to the University since 2015. Mark J.
