With little to play for in the standings, the Detroit Lions want to use Sundays season finale against the Minnesota Vikings to take a longer look at some of their young defensive players. The Lions waived safety Jayron Kearse on Monday, a move that interim head coach Darrell Bevell said was done because "there’s some younger guys on the roster that we want to be able to take a look at." Stock up QB Tom Brady: At 43 years old, Brady just put together maybe the greatest four quarters of football in NFL history. In the second half of last week’s come-from-behind win over the Atlanta Falcons, and the first half of Saturday’s game, Brady completed 43 of 56 passes (76.8%) for 668 yards and six touchdowns. Like the Falcons, the Detroit Lions are playing for an interim head coach, with Darrell Bevell in charge since the November 28 dismissal of Matt Patricia. Like Atlanta, the Lions immediately won their first game for their new coach, though a rash of inju...

Miller: One-dimensional Lions searching for identity along with head coach, GM 21 points with just under 10 minutes to go in the first half.  Lions down two scores.  The Lions offense needed to keep up and they couldn’t afford to make mistakes. They couldn’t afford to punt. They made mistakes. They punted.   And once again they found themselves playing from behind. Trying to find some way to cobble together enough points and defensive efficiency to win. You’ve heard all that stuff. L...
