What’s being called the Dutton Creek wildfire grew to around four hectares in size in the Gallagar Lake area and is now classified as being held.

After a small wildfire caused alarm Saturday near Oliver, the stage has been properly set for a town hall meeting next week with the region’s emergency management personnel.

The Dutton Creek blaze is located roughly halfway between Okanagan Falls and Oliver in the South Okanagan.

BCWS is investigating smoke seen behind the Gallagher lake area outside of Oliver.

The fire grew to 4.37 hectares, and was discovered Saturday afternoon in the Dutton Creek area east of Highway 97. BCWS says it suspects the blaze to be human-caused.
