Environment Canada confirmed that a tornado was reported near Cynthia, Alta., on Monday. Another tornado was seen Monday in Wildwood, Alta.

Environment Canada issued a warning on Monday afternoon about the potential for a tornado to develop in central Alberta later in the day or evening.

Scorching heat is forcing people to find unique ways to stay cool. But for some, it’s just a regular day on the job. And sometimes, they’re lucky enough to also love what they do.

A tornado touched down near Wildwood, Alta., around 9:30 p.m. Monday, along with a large storm.

Weather conditions triggered the cancellation of a large annual Indigenous gathering west of Edmonton.

An intense thunderstorm rolled through Edmonton and the surrounding area Sunday night, leaving damage in its wake.

According to the alert, conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

It a project that’s unique to Alberta and an area some meteorologists refer to as ‘hail alley’.

A sudden hail storm on Saturday night in Calgary damaged houses, cars and gardens.

‘The level and extent of drought that we are witnessing this early on in the season is deeply concerning,’ B.C. Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Minister Bowinn Ma said.
