Elected officials in Northport hired an Indiana firm to develop a 100-room hotel and a 100,000 square-foot indoor sports facility on the bank of the Black Warrior River Monday.

Rezoning requests for a number of proposed developments, including an apartment complex, new hotels and a 70-acre mixed-use development, are moving forward to a final reading.

A more than $100 million commercial and residential development is being proposed on approximately 70 acres of land that used to be Delco Park.

A 64-acre site is expected to become a prime live-work-play spot in the rapidly growing city’s downtown once the development is built out.
