This week marks one year since the death of 15-year-old Eriya Ruiz. The family said their life has been anything but normal since.

On Thursday, the alleged suspect accused of the murder of 15-year-old Eriya Ruiz appeared before a county judge.

Grandmothers Allen and Everett said they don't know how the suspect is connected to Eriya, but confirmed they knew each other.
