Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, LIC Housing Finance, Canara Bank, NALCO, Oracle Financial Services Software, Tata Chemicals, Indus Towers, India Cements and Bandhan Bank may enter the ban list as these stocks are near the 95 percent MWPL.
The layoffs are expected to affect approximately 500 employees, of the total 3,437 permanent staff. The announcement comes within days of Goenka's decision to take a voluntary pay cut of 20%.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has reportedly urged pay-TV broadcasters to refrain from disconnecting signals to distribution platform operators (DPOs) or implementing tariff hikes until after the Lok Sabha elections. Trai Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti and Secretary V Raghunandan have met with top broadcasting executives to encourage engagement with DPOs regarding the price hike issue.
