05:10 AM EST Share When it comes to progress in Northeast Florida in the new year, these are the places that will be driving headlines North Core  Four developers JWB Real Estate Capital, Augustine Development Group, ACE JAX LLC and Jim and Ellen Wiss have announced $116.1 million of investments in the historic area they’ve collectively branded the North Core. The North Core is bordered by State, Broad, Church and Main streets. Apartments for the North Core JWB, led by president Alex Sifakis, plans to invest $11.4 million to redevelop the Federal Reserve and Baptist Convention buildings. The Wisses acquired from First Baptist Church nearly a full city block that they intend to redevelop.

05:00 AM EST Share Company Vice President Elias Hionides said the two second-floor apartments at the East Adams Street building could be ready by summer. Developer and property manager Petra bought a two-story retail and residential building at 29 E. Adams St. Downtown on Jan. 6 for $500,000, according to company vice president Elias Hionides.  Petra plans a $100,000 investment in cosmetic renovations to the two second-floor apartments. Hionides said Jan. 6 the three-bedroom market-rate units will be ready to rent by summer. He said the ground floor will remain retail space and Petra intends to maintain the architectural features including the exterior archway.  The 9,500-square-foot building was developed in 1914 and designed by architect Henry John Klutho.
