Twins win Class A races at Titcomb. Freeport's Teo Steverlynck-Horne, Greely's Sylvia Harvey, Orono's Clara White and Fort Kent's Alder Rearden also earn titles.

The girls team competition is decided by one point — the Black Bears' depth overcoming the Red Riots' sister duo. The Orono boys win thanks to four finishers in the top seven.

Participants from Dirigo, Mountain Valley and Telstar use the shorter course and ideal conditions to gain some confidence as bigger races draw closer.

The Cougars' Henri McCourt and Leavitt's Logan Ouellette added freestyle championships to the classical titles they won a day earlier.

McCourt is the Class A champ and Ouellette the Class B winner on day one of the state championships.

Through a months-long process of organization and research, building and making presentations, and drafting solutions, freshmen at Telstar High School have learned to appreciate there is great suffering and great hardship for some people living outside of Maine.
