Several state agencies are asking campers and outdoor enthusiasts to not move firewood and instead buy it where they burn it this camping season.

Maine, home to 500 million ash trees over an inch in diameter, require protection from the Emerald Ash Borer. The invasive pest has already infested 100 areas in Southern Maine and parts of Northern Maine, Maine Forest Service says. State Entomologist Mike Parisio said a bio control agent will be released on sites to prevent infestations.
