For over 20 years roots music fans have gathered annually in downtown Bristol Tennessee/Virginia to celebrate its musical heritage as the birthplace of country music. This weekend’s festival will feature a special presentation by another organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of the region’s music.

ELIZABETHTON — This Saturday’s Covered Bridge Jam in the Covered Bridge Park in downtown Elizabethton will feature The Empty Bottle String Band. The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department said the band “specializes in playing toe-tapping, highly danceable traditional Appalachian music.
