The town's Fire Rescue department said high levels of bacteria were found during routine testing on April 29, prompting an advisory.

The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County said Thursday that water quality levels at seven locations across the county have improved to an acceptable level.

Ocean water quality samples taken from seven sites off the Lahaina burn zone showed no high bacteria levels five months after the Aug. 8 wildfires, according to the 2023 Blue Water Task Force water quality report released by the Surfrider Foundation Hawaiʻi.

High bacteria counts in the water prompted the advisory from the Florida Department of Public Health for Palm Beach County.
