Pension sector players expect the Finance Secretary-headed committee tasked with looking into government employees’ concerns about NPS to submit its report around budget time, which could pave the way for a final resolution of the thorny issue.

Sasikala had approached the High Court last year challenging her removal from the post of interim general secretary of AIADMK by the party General Council.

The Madras High Court issued notice to expelled AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam (OPS) asking him to respond to a civil suit filed by the current general secretary of the party and political rival, Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The AIADMK amended its bye-laws in July 2022 expelling O Panneerselvam from the party and appointing E Palaniswamy as the interim General Secretary.

The Court also said that its interim order passed on July 6 last year, which stayed a High Court order restraining amendment to the AIADMK by-laws, would be made permanent.

The battle between Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) and O Panneerselvam (OPS) is far from over as both have now embarked on a spree to expel each others supporters since July 11 general council meeting in which EPS who was elected as the partys interim general secretary expelled OPS, who in turn announced that he was expelling the former from the party.
