Vermont state officials have requested a preliminary damage assessment from FEMA to see if the state is eligible for federal assistance with damage repair from flooding on Dec. 18 and 19.

To qualify for a major disaster declaration, Vermont must show at least $1.18 million in response and public infrastructure recovery costs.
