West Chester University landed four players on the US Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-America squad, which was announced Thursday by that publication. Two of them, West Chester graduate student goalkeeper Jessica Gorr (a Bishop Shanahan High School alum) and senior midfielder Hannah Stanislawczyk were first team picks. In its opening dual meet of the 2023-24 season, the Unionville High School swim team swept Oxford Friday at the Kennett YMCA, with the boys winning 85-59 and the girls prevailing, 89-63.

The Chester County high school swimming season has begun, and the local scene looks strong again. Downingtown East, which finished 9-0 last winter, returns a strong group of swimmers, and Conestoga also returns a strong crop, led by senior Jake Wang, who was the Daily Local News 2022-23 Boys Swimmer of the Year.
