Cheyenne Mountain Zoo says the death of the Amur Tiger was a freak accident.

A critically endangered Amur tiger tragically died after a freak accident at The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado last Friday. 

A 2-year-old Amur tiger died at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in what officials are calling a "freak accident."

Mila, who was moved to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo from Toronto Zoo in March 2023, was suffering from a dental issue, which needed to be operated on.

The Toronto Zoo is mourning the loss of one of its former residents, Mila, a two-year-old Amur tiger, who moved from Toronto to Colorado earlier this year.

"She could have slid off from that height a hundred times and landed in a variety of other positions and been unaffected," the zoo's head veterinarian said
