High prices are a welcome change for cattle producers, but it’s important to remember that higher prices mean mistakes cost more than when prices are low.

With cattle prices soaring to record highs and forecasts predicting sustained high prices for the next few years, some producers feel unstoppable. In such times, even less productive cows and poorly managed calves are likely to turn a profit.
