NYU Langone Health is using an AI model to predict patient death, readmission, and other health outcomes.

Washington (AFP) June 7, 2023 - Artificial intelligence has proven itself useful in reading medical imaging and even shown it can pass doctors licensing exams.

The large language model is still in testing, but the AI tool had a median accuracy score of 77.8% compared to a physician score of 62.8%. The code base is now available to all healthcare organizations.

To the team’s surprise, “the most senior physician [...] had superhuman performance, better than the model”, said the study's lead author.
