The U.S. Senate voted Thursday to confirm two of President Joe Biden's appointees for the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

A majority of the Senate backed Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown on Wednesday to be the top U.S. military officer, as lawmakers moved to confirm some of the top senior officers whose promotions have been stalled by a Republican senators blockade.

“Sen. Tuberville is forcing us to confront his obstruction head on,” Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY, said on Wednesday.

The Senate has confirmed Gen. CQ Brown as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, putting him in place to succeed Gen. Mark Milley when he retires at the end of the month.
