May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, and Col. Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, reminds the public that its important for motorcyclists to take an active role in their safety.

Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, would like to stress the importance of safe boating and make the public aware of National Safe Boating Week, which takes place May 18-24. National Safe Boating Week is purposefully scheduled just prior to Memorial Day weekend, which many people consider the kickoff to the boating season.

Dress for safety. Wear a helmet and eye protection. Wear bright clothing. Wear thick or leather clothing for protection.

In these crashes, 2,141 people were injured and 175 people were killed.

Col. Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announced the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will participate in a five-day Human Trafficking Awareness initiative Jan. 8-12. This initiative is a concentrated effort to educate commercial motor vehicle drivers, motor carriers, law enforcement officers, and the general public about human trafficking, what signs to look for and what to do in these situations.
