The main round of the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship is behind us, as the eight teams still with a chance to win the coveted trophy are travelling to Gdansk and Stockholm for the final days of the competition.  After 96 matches elapsed at Poland/Sweden 2023, it is time to check and see what was hot and what was not before looking forward to what projects to be a fiery final of an exciting competition. All eight participants of the President's Cup will play their last games at Poland/Sweden 2023 on Wednesday, as all the 25-32 Placement Matches will take place at Orlen Arena in Plock. Chile and Tunisia, who won their respective groups at the consolation tournament, will fight for the President's Cup, while all the other teams hope to end the competition on a high.

Ok, so we are into unknown territory at the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship. We have just entered the last week of the competition. In only seven days, we will find out who are the new world champions! But until then, there is still a day left in the main round at Poland/Sweden 2023. Group I and Group II of the main round concluded on Sunday evening, with some high-profile clashes that yielded four teams qualified for the quarter-final.

Before the last matches on Sunday, the situation in Group I is quite straightforward. Republic of Korea and Chile, who are both on four points, will fight for the first place in the group in a direct duel, while Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, who have no points, will compete for the third position. 

The 12th consecutive day with matches at the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship will also bring some crucial answers, with one berth for the quarter-final ready to be sealed, while the crunch clash between France and Spain will offer the winner of Group I of the main round in Krakow.

Both teams had claimed the maximum of four points in their two previous matches of the consolation tournament, so the winner of their clash was sure to finish top of Group I. In the end, Chile celebrated a victory and will face Tunisia in the 25/26 Placement Match on Wednesday, which will also serve as the President's Cup final.  President's Cup Group I Republic of Korea vs Chile 26:33 (16:16)
