During the Spring 2023 semester, members of the ULM Reginald F. Lewis Scholar program had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris, France for a week. Facilitator Tommie Nelson, Retention Coordinator of ULM TRIO Programs, and TRIO Participant Carl Whitlock, ULM Reginald F. Lewis Scholar, along with other RFL Scholars representing each university in the UL System.
Nationally renowned author, speaker, and educator Dr. Stephen Peters delivered the keynote address at ULM’s annual Black History Program on February 24. Peters’ speech highlighted the importance of education and literacy in his personal story, and also black history in America. “We’re here to honor the humanity, the hard work, the blood, sweat, and tears of people who went before us who didn’t think about themselves first; they thought about society,” said Peters.

The University of Louisiana Monroe annual freshman convocation will kick off its traditional parade across the bridge to Fant-Ewing Coliseum at 5:30 p.m. on August 29. Convocation is a tradition at ULM that symbolizes the official start of the academic year. This year’s convocation is unique in that it will be a culmination of the first Warhawk Way Summit, where freshmen learned the spirit of the University’s culture.
