Saturday night family and friends honored Ethan Weiser with a candlelight vigil in his memory while continuing to advocate for change.

Aug. 26 marks one year since Ethan Weiser was hit and killed by a car while walking to his bus stop in Clearwater, Florida.

As thousands of Tampa Bay area children return to school Thursday, some are beginning the new year without a classmate.

On the first day of school this school year, students can now utilize an upgraded crosswalk that was installed near where Ethan Weiser was killed.

The idea is to improve efficiency of bus routes, but it still leaves most high schools starting around 7 a.m., which goes against what researchers say is best for teenagers' sleep patterns.

On Wednesday, a crosswalk with flashing lights was installed down the street from where a Largo teen was hit and killed while walking to his school bus stop six months ago. 

The city of Lake Wales is making safety improvements less than one week after 13-year-old Jadin Galind hit and killed by a car while waiting for the bus.

During Clearwater's City Council meeting on Thursday night, city officials and residents came out to discuss the controversy.

For the first time in Pinellas County, traffic crash victims and advocates walked along roads in Treasure Island and St. Petersburg for World Day of Remembrance. 

In the two months since 15-year-old Ethan Weiser was hit and killed while crossing Bellear road, his family has been fighting for safety upgrades on that road. And their persistence is paying off.
