For the second weekend in a row we will be talking about a tropical system near the East Coast.

By far, the greatest concern and biggest potential impact is heavy rain leading to additional flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. for areas north of the Massachusetts Turnpike for the potential of frequent lightning, small hail and damaging wind gusts.

Most of southern and southeastern Massachusetts will be on the very northern edge of the visibility window.

The two tornadoes in Massachusetts the last two weeks are actually not all that rare for this time of year.

The threat of severe thunderstorms returns Saturday and there's also a slight risk of an isolated tornado.

There's a severe thunderstorm threat and small risk of a tornado in central and western Massachusetts Friday afternoon and evening.

Localized flooding and damaging gusts are also possible with these storms.

It is a bit unusual to see wildfire smoke this early in the season.
