Mesa has opened a new self-service library in the city. Saturday’s grand opening also highlighted the expansion of the city’s Monterey Park where the library is located. City spokesperson Kevin Christopher says the event was designed to include residents who influenced the decision to create the library.

The City of Houston is operating public cooling centers through Sunday at many of its libraries, community centers and multi-service centers.

Houston is re-activating its Public Health Heat Emergency Plan and will provide resources for people to take refuge from extreme heat Wednesday through Sunday.

The new permanent Epps Memorial Library will be at the current N. Simmons Street location.

While eventually, they plan to add a KDL branch in Grattan Township, residents will be able to access library offerings with an Express Library system located at the township hall.

Library visitors will be able to pick up titles for all ages throughout the week, with titles featuring everything from Spider-Man to Bloodborne across the 12 different libraries.
