The feature was first introduced last year when GMC announced its Hummer EV Pickup, but now the company is expanding the feature to other new additions to its electric vehicle lineup.
This includes the new EV SUV, slated for production in 2023. The feature, officially known as CrabWalk, allows the vehicle to do exactly that by turning its wheels diagonally. CrabWalk is only available when the vehicle moves at low speeds and is designed to allow the driver to get the car out of tight spots (like when someone parallel parks to close in front of and behind them, for example). It will also complement the vehicle’s Extract Mode, which lifts it six inches off the ground using air suspension.
