Fairley High School is one of several schools across the Bluff city wanting to join MSCS.

The Memphis-Shelby County Schools board denied initial applications from 10 charter schools, including several exiting the state’s failed turnaround program.

“For someone to care about me like they do, it feels like they’re second parents,” said Jaylon Avant, Fairley High School Band member.
