Chandigarh: Haryana Police on Friday fired tear gas shells to disperse protesting farmers when they moved towards the barricades at the Shambhu border near Ambala, a day after talks between Union ministers and farmer leaders remained inconclusive.

Thousands of farmers from Punjab remain encamped at the Punjab and Haryana borders for a second consecutive day. Another meeting between farmer group leaders and Union ministers is scheduled for Thursday in Chandigarh. Despite security forces firing gas shells at them, the farmers persist. Farmer leaders express readiness for dialogue, apologizing for protester misbehavior.

Protesting farmers today began their march towards Delhi after a meeting with two Union ministers over their demands, including a legal guarantee to MSP for crops, which remained inconclusive last night.
