Fargo Pound News Today

After a dismal start, German Shepard mix Norman has found safe haven at the Homeward Animal Shelter where staff are lowering adoption fees to $100 to try and ease the constant overcrowding.

For 14 years, area animal shelters have been preventing adoptable dogs from being put down at the pound. Now, they aren’t sure if they can keep up with demand.

“There’s a lot of cats roaming the streets,” Fargo’s Community Service Officer LaVern Aventi said. She estimates that a CSO might spend around 50% of their time on animal control.

Police are looking for a man who is driving a red, four-door sedan. The second cat, named Benedict, survived and is up for adoption, a spokeswoman said.
