Pakistan puppeteer and columnist Farooq Qaiser has been laid to rest in Islamabad s H-11 graveyard. His funeral prayers were offered on Saturday and they were attended by his friends, family members, and fans. It was initially being reported that his burial will be delayed for a day for his children but it didn t happen because their tickets couldn t be confirmed.

Islamabad: Pakistanis are mourning the loss of acclaimed artist Farooq Qaiser, better known as Uncle Sargam - a puppet character he created- who pioneered the concept of education through entertainment in Pakistan. Pakistan’s beloved puppeteer breathed his last on Friday at the age of 75 in Islamabad on Friday after a cardiac arrest, his family confirmed. He is survived by three children, one son and two daughters as well as grandchildren, according to local media. Qaiser was one of the most remarkable Pakistani puppeteer, cartoonist, author, scriptwriter, voice-over artist and TV personality. He is the creator of Muppet-like puppets including the legendary Uncle Sargam and other characters Maasi Museebatay, Rolla and Sharmeeli that became household names in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s legendary artist ‘Uncle Sargam’ dies of cardiac arrest at age of 76 2 hours ago Farooq Qaiser portrayal of Uncle Sargam, a puppet character he created and also lent his voice to, became hugely popular in Pakistan. Tariq Butt, Correspondent Pakistan’s legendary artist Farooq Qaiser alias Uncle Sargam has passed away due to cardiac arrest, his family confirmed. His grandson, Hasnain Qaiser Iqbal, said Farooq Qaiser had been suffering from a heart ailment for some time. He said that his condition worsened after which an ambulance rushed him to a hospital but he could not be revived. Farooq Qaiser is survived by three children, a son and two daughters. He was born in Lahore on Oct.31, 1945, and was educated at the National College of Arts. He also obtained a Master s in Graphic Arts from Romania in 1976 and another postgraduate degree in Mass Communication from the University of Southern California, USA, in 1999.
