Polls will open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at dozens of locations across Anne Arundel. Ballot drop boxes will also be available until 8 p.m. Tuesday for voters to deposit ballots they had mailed to them.

Data published by the Maryland State Board of Elections shows Haire won six of seven council districts, each by at least 100 votes and one by as many as 1,000 votes.

The Capital and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will co-host the Oct. 18 debate between Democratic County Executive Steuart Pittman and Republican Councilmember Jessica Haire.

The Edgewater County Council member became the Republican nominee for Anne Arundel County executive Friday, defeating former Annapolis Del. Herb McMillan by more than 2,000 votes.

With all 195 precincts reporting around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, Haire had received 12,321 votes to McMillan’s 11,457 votes, according to the state board of elections, with thousands more mailed votes to be counted Thursday.

The signees of the letter were Forks of the Patuxent Improvement Association, Woodwardville Preservation Society, Greater Crofton Council and Crofton First, all of which are opposed to the Chesapeake Terrace Rubble landfill, which Halle Companies has sought to build along Patuxtent Road for decades.

Haire received about $90,000 from businesses listed at the address of Halle Companies, a developer connected to various projects around the county, including a proposed landfill in Odenton.

Sharing a stage with less than two weeks until the primary election, two of the five GOP candidates vying to unseat Democratic Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman showed off their different campaign styles.

As early voting for the midterm elections begins Thursday, data from the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections shows Democratic registration has increased by about 8% while Republican registration has decreased by 3.5% over the last four years.
