Findinga Path News Today

Ukraine is not really any closer to joining nato now than it was in 2014 when putin invaded ukraine the first time. its questionable what exactly it is that president biden can do to stop putin from whatever it is he intends right now. i do think the scheduling of the january 10th talks between the united states and russia in geneva suggest at least over the next couple weeks there is a possibility of finding a path forward with putin. but what really worries me is that theres really a mismatch....

Deployments and the like and that ukraine be permanently banned from ever joining nato, that that is a nonstarter. apparently they are responding, at least publicly, to some of the arms control proposals. >> weve been pretty clear since the russians first published their so-called draft treaty documents. that our strong sense of working negotiations like these is the highest likelihood of finding a path forward takes place when you dont negotiate on television and in public but behind closed doo...

And destruction that hes causing. he can end it today by sitting down with the ukrainians and finding a path forward here. deescalating by taking his troops out of the country and stopping this invasion that hes responsible for. >> martha: is that -- i want to go at this one more time. so what does success look like? does success -- what ukraine would say, what president zelensky would say, were the front line here. so if you care about protecting nato, you have to make sure that putin does not ...

>> we need to check to see if cicadas did at that time, though, i dont know whether brood x was around or not. look, it feels like every step we take what happened yesterday all of this gets us one step closer to getting rid of the filibuster, it feels almost as if we have to go through all of this, but i found, you know, david just mentioned senator manchin and finding a path forward, just lets not forget that mitch mcconnell called, you know, manchins proposal a stacey abrams bill to begin wit...

Donald trump. its not a coincidence that hes talking about pardoning himself and laying the predicate for that possibility as the walls are closi in on paul manafort. and that is why it is s outrageous that more republicans and more americans arent saying how patently absurd it is that a president can pardon himself. obviously, a pardon is for a criminal act, at the end of the day. >> neera, i want to read from the charges here that show that paul manafort may have tried very hard to tamper, but...

Promise. ive got to catch one of those buses to make sure i can get down to the white house. >> harris: i know thats true and we appreciate your time. before i let you go, as you look forward, the next thing is going to be spending and the government. i understand there is a stopgap measure that would push to january 19th. talk to me quickly about what lies ahead. >> i think its important we deliver on our other promises, beginning to rebuild our military, creating security as well as finding a ...

Are the remaining tossup battleground states. as sara was saying earlier, donald trump could win all of these. florida, north carolina, ohio. he is still short of 270 that he needs. in fact, i was just showing you that north carolina poll of polls. if north carolina were to go to hillary clinton, it would really knock donald trumps number down to 249. he would be completely blocked from finding a path to 270 without it. >> interesting. all right, david. well continue this conversation. i want to...

>> on the issue of finding a path between the left and the right, finding whats doable, whats not doable, im a true blue liberal and im allowed to say that. its okay. but one of the things that i have been struck by during the obama administration is that a lot of the really the civil rights achievements of this administration have actually been undoing things that were done in the clinton administration, whether it was dont ask/dont tell, or the defense of marriage act or the tough on crime sen...

And look for ways to bring those who are responsible over to the right side. thats one of the reasons why were hoping that before speaker boehner departs his speakership there will be the vote on the debt limit. >> on the issue of finding a path between the left and the right, finding whats doable, whats not doable, im a true blue liberal and im allowed to say that. its okay. but one of the things that i have been struck by during the obama administration is that a lot of the really the civil ri...

But the best they can hope for is a little burst of attention. people say, oh, that was interesting and maybe they get a little bit more press coverage later on and its not about finding a path to the nomination. >> on the other hand, we saw for example on the republican side what happened, for example, carly fiorina, who was considered somebody they didnt really know well and because of the debate performance, she was actually able to grow. isnt that something that maybe any one of these three ...
