Its not every day you watch a rocket streak into space over Virginias Eastern Shore, acing its first-ever liftoff from American soil.

"Rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 is designed to serve the responsive space needs of commercial, civil, defense, and national security customers, supporting up to 12 missions per year," the company said.

The mission was Rocket Lab’s 33rd to date, but the first from U.S. soil. The company has been regularly launching from private launchpads in New Zealand.

Rocket Labs Electron lifted off Tuesday from Wallops Island in Virginia in the companys first launch from U.S. soil.

Rocket Lab's launch vehicle successfully delivered three radio commercial satellites into orbit around the earth, 24 hours after its original scheduled launch was aborted due to bad weather.

Rocket Lab will be conducting its first launch from the Northern Hemisphere today, in a mission that will take off from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility.

Rocket Lab's first Electron launch from the United States was delayed until the first quarter of next year.
