Fishing compliance checks in the Hudson Valley and across New York resulted in several tickets for a host of violations.

The grants are funded by the Suffolk County Water Infrastructure Fund.

The leaders announced the town of Brookhaven has come to terms on a Host Community Agreement (HCA) with Sunrise Wind, an offshore wind project that will generate enough clean energy for nearly 600,000 New York homes.

The deal enables 18 miles of real estate access for a cable to carry electricity from Sunrise Wind's planned offshore wind power project.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone called the projects key to improving water quality, and attracting more businesses in Mastic Beach.

The funding will be used to mitigate flooding and improve water quality along Old Neck Road and Old Neck Creek in Center Moriches.

“As someone who lives in this great Suffolk County community, I can attest that the Forge River Sewer Project is critical to our quality of life," Zeldin said.

A nearly $224 million sewer project will reduce nitrogen pollution and expand economic development by eliminating about 1,890 cesspools and septic systems in the Mastic-Shirley area of Long Island. Still, environmentalists want more.

"Today we break ground on a historic sewer project that will both improve water quality in the Forge River and attract new investment to the Mastic community," Bellone said.
