The superrich daughter of Angola’s former president, Isabel dos Santos, is battling courts that are freezing her assets. 

Billionaire Isabel dos Santos was sued by Unitel, a telecoms operator in Angola, asking Londons High Court to grant a worldwide freezing order over the assets at a hearing in November.

Former Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos passed away Friday at the age of 79, leaving behind a mixed and complex legacy in the minds of millions. The nation’s second president, he was in power for nearly four decades from 1979 to 2017.

Former Angolan minister Manuel Rabelais was sentenced Monday to 14 years in prison on corruption charges, becoming the second ex-minister put behind bars since Joao Lourenço took power in 2017. The Angolan president succeeded Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who had held onto power for 38 years.
