A man convicted of trying to kill a father and son by tampering with the gas meter outside their Elburn home offered an emotional apology to his victims and his own family before being sentenced to six years in prison.

Frank E. Ryan has been found guilty of two counts of attempted murder for trying to kill two men -- one of them involved with Ryans ex-girlfriend -- by tampering with a natural gas line and spewing gas into a house in Elburn.

A Waterman man wasnt trying to kill anybody when he sent natural gas into his ex-girlfriends new boyfriends Elburn home, a defense lawyer said Friday.
