A shattered 1,800-year-old Roman arm guard discovered in the Scottish Borders in 1906 has been reconstructed and will soon be on display at the British Museum.

Conservators in the U.K. have painstakingly reassembled a piece of Roman armor that was broken into more than 100 pieces.

A new exhibition will open in the British Museum called "Legion: Life in the Roman Army," featuring a 2,000-year-old Roman armguard restored using over 100 fragmented pieces.

Fragments of the armor were kept in National Museums Scotland’s collection for over a century, experts said.

For the first time in 2,000 years, a Roman arm guard can be seen in its entirety after a painstaking reconstruction.

The brass arm guard was previously in more than 100 pieces.
