Musical Youth drummer Frederick Waite Jr has died aged 85.

Musician Frederick Waite Jr played drums for Musical Youth, a British-Jamaican reggae band best known for their 1982 cannabis-inspired megahit Pass the Dutchie as well as Youth of Today.

Known for 1980s hit Pass the Dutchie, the band played the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.

The history-making black group are saddened by the drummers death as they announce the sad news on social media and confirm the musician passed away at the age of 55.
