Smoky Mountain News, Arts and Entertainment Editor, Garret K. Woodward was excited to discuss upcoming music festivals across Western North Carolina. Garret, who also contributes stories to Rolling Stone Magazine, provided the Friday Feature with a rundown of shows he plans to attend and some of the musicians he hopes to interview.

Head Curator for The Birthplace of Country Music in Bristol, VA Rene Rogers, spoke with The Friday Feature about their new exhibit, “I've Endured: Women In Old-Time Music." An incredible display about the women of yesterday, today, and the future of this historic style of music. It includes WNCW's own Carol Rifkin.

This Friday Feature helped celebrate Black History Month with a combination of several significant topics that took place in Western North Carolina. That included educator Lucy Herring, the African American community The Happy Land, the National Park Service, and music and civil rights icon Nina Simone.
