Westchester County Executive George Latimer and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced a shared services initiative to facilitate the electrification of both Counties’ fleet to reduce their carbon footprint and save taxpayer dollars
Westchester County Executive George Latimer and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone signed dual Executive Orders that direct their respective County departments to develop plans, similar to President Joe Biden’s recent Executive Order, to convert their vehicle fleets to electric by 2030. Departments are directed to submit plans to the County Executive and requisite departments within the next 90 days to achieve clean and zero-emissions fleets by 2030 or sooner.

I kicked COVID to the curb! That’s the new campaign Westchester County has launched to encourage Westchester County teens and young adults to get vaccinated for COVID-19. The campaign includes a PSA with New York Knick and Ossining native Obi Toppin and Knick Immanuel “IQ” Quickley.
Along with the New York Knicks PSA, the County is also launching an aggressive social media campaign, hosting a youth town hall May 13 to answer questions young people might have about the vaccine and is partnering with local schools, libraries and more to directly get the information in the hands of the young people and their parents.
Latimer Celebrates Earth Day with the Opening of New County Compost & Education Center Written by Westchester County
Westchester County residents now have a location to learn how to best divert food scraps from the waste stream as County Executive George Latimer officially cut the - homemade, compostable - ribbon on the County’s new Compost & Education Center. The facility delivers on a promise from January 2020 when Latimer announced the release of Westchester County’s Food Waste Study and outlined the County’s plan to address food waste and food scrap recycling. One of the key components of the plan, the construction and operation of a County Compost and Education Center, has come to fruition.
